BRITTNEY PAULSON

 ABOUT ARTIST

Wiyabu - (Hello)

Brittney is a proud Worimi, Biripi, Kamilaroi artist who was born on Biripi Country (Taree, NSW).

Brittney grew up on both Biripi & Worimi Country, (Forster-Tuncurry) and was inspired by her father, who she would watch & observe growing up. As a result, she developed her own skills to create and establish her own style and has now been painting for four years.

By using Indigenous symbolism & sharing language in her artwork, Brittney's art portrays an
appreciation and emotional connection to the land, and personal experiences.

"My journey has only just begun & I'm still growing as an Indigenous artist each day.

I feel like I'm learning more about my culture through each painting I create."

The name Ukamirra’ is an Aboriginal word meaning Sunset that was shared by her father and inspired her art style by using vibrant colours in her artwork to symbolize the beauty of our land, the strength of our people, and our connection to culture.

As well as expressing her emotions through her art, Brittney seeks to inspire the younger
generation and to preserve this beautiful culture by bringing awareness and giving back to our culture and community.
